Newsmakers from Monday’s action:
Aaron Judge, OF, Yankees. At this point, Judge’s coronation as American League Rookie of the Year is just a matter of waiting until the season ends and the announcement is made. But with his 44th home run, Judge still has a small chance to catch or top Mark McGwire’s rookie home run record of 49.
Hunter Renfroe, OF, Padres. After spending exactly a month in Triple-A after being demoted, Renfroe announced his return to San Diego by hitting his 21st home run in his first game back with the Padres.
Matt Olson, 1B, Athletics. What a six weeks it has been for Olson. He hit his 22nd home run of the season and 11th in the past 15 games.
Austin Hays, OF, Orioles. Now that he has settled into the big leagues, Hays has been on a roll. Monday he had his third consecutive multi-hit game.
