NCAA Baseball Transfer Rules May Be Tweaked.

Newsmakers from Thursday’s action:

Kyle Holder, 3B, Yankees: If Holder can hit, he’s a big leaguer, because he’s an excellent defensive shortstop with versatility to slide around the infield. Holder’s bat has been unable to live up to that challenge yet, but his Arizona Fall League stint is starting out well. Holder had four hits yesterday including a triple and a home run.

Estevan Florial, OF, Yankees: Florial is one of the higher ceiling outfield prospects in the minors and one of the best prospects in the AFL. A 10-for-23 start (.435) is doing nothing to dampen the expectations. He doubled and tripled yesterday in a three-hit game.

Alex Jackson, DH, Braves. He was not catching yesterday, but Jackson was still hitting. He hit his third home run in just 25 AFL at-bats.

Daniel Johnson, OF, Nationals. Johnson’s profile risen enough that it’s no longer fair to call him a true sleeper (especially with the Nationals Top 10 Prospects list getting ready to roll out), but because of where he was drafted (fifth round) he still doesn’t get as much attention as he should. He’s an athletic outfielder with a right fielder’s arm and power potential. Johnson had three hits yesterday, raising his average to .346 and he has four steals in four tries.
