B-Mets Ask Fans To Vote With Their Taste Buds
After the Binghamton Mets’ list of candidates for a new name made headlines, the team has added a little spice—and sugar, and beef, and cheese, and bread and, of course, Pop Rocks—to the list to help fans make up their minds by using their stomachs.
On Friday, the team re-released the list of name candidates—the Stud Muffins, the Rocking Horses, the Gobblers, the Rumble Ponies, the Bullheads and the Timber Jockeys—with a new selection of food items. In typical minor league fashion, the dishes Binghamton came up with have silly names and flavor combinations bold enough to make Guy Fieri blush. The team’s new name will be revealed in October. Until then, B-Mets president John Hughes encourages fans to chill out and chow down before they make their choice.
“Voting has been through the roof since the initial announcement,” Hughes said. “We wanted to provide additional insight to help voters differentiate between the names and experiences on the horizon. We are excited about the endless possibilities the new team name will provide us. Building upon Binghamton evolving into the Culinary Capital of Upstate N.Y., we are following suit and taking the food experience at the ballpark to the next level.”
After reading this menu, one thing is clear: No matter which name wins this fall, it’s sure to be a mouthful all summer long.
