Arizona Fall League Prospect Report: Victor Scott Feasts On Lefties

Victor Scott, OF, Cardinals: When this week began, Scott had never homered against a lefthander as a pro. But after hitting a home run off lefty Erik Sabrowski on Thursday, he did it again on Friday, hitting a home run against lefty Carlos Meza as part of a 3-for-4 day that also saw him steal two more bases. His 12 steals are second most in the AFL.
Carson Spiers, RHP, Reds: After making his MLB debut late in the 2023 season, Spiers has brought his excellent control to the Arizona Fall League. Spiers cruised through three innings on Friday before allowing three singles and a run in the fourth. Spiers threw a remarkable 38 strikes in 44 pitches, an 86% strike percentage. He’s now struck out 16 and walked one in 14 innings in the AFL.
Kala’i Rosario, OF, Twins: Rosario’s AFL has been a mixed bag. He hit his sixth home run of the AFL on Saturday, which gives him the league lead. But he has only six other hits, which explains his .185/.284/.477 slash line. Rosario is striking out 33% of the time in the AFL, which is a bump from the 29% strikeout rate he had during the regular season.
Damon Keith, OF, Dodgers: Keith’s Friday is a perfect reminder of how hard it is to put much emphasis on player’s statistical performances in the AFL. Keith went 4-for-4 with a double and a home run. Coming into the game, he was hitting .233/.327/.419. After the game, he was hitting .298/.377/.553. He then dipped to .280/.357/.520 after an 0-for-3 Saturday. These are small statistical slices where one or two good or bad days can affect a player’s final AFL stat line.
