Area Code Games Begin Saturday
LONG BEACH, Calif.—The Area Code Baseball Games, featuring the top high school baseball prospects in the country, begin Saturday at Blair Field. This year’s event represents its 30th anniversary
The Area Code Games has produced MLB all-stars Giancarlo Stanton, Ryan Braun, Mike Trout and Joc Pederson, and you can see all their Prospects To Pros videos here. Sponsored by New Balance, Marucci, Spalding, Zamst, Gatorade, and Baseball America, this year’s talent includes RHP/SS Hunter Greene (Notre Dame High, Los Angeles), RHP Hans Crouse (Dana Hills, Dana Hills, CA), OF Quentin Holmes (Monsignor McClancy, East Elmhurst, N.Y.), and OF Nicholas Storz (Poly Prep Country Day, Brooklyn, N.Y.), among others.
Participating teams represent eight regions of the country and include the Oakland A’s (Northern California), Chicago White Sox (Midwest), Kansas City Royals (Pacific Northwest), New York Yankees (Northeast), Washington Nationals (Southeast), Milwaukee Brewers (Southern California), Texas Rangers (Texas and Louisiana), and Cincinnati Reds (Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, Hawaii).
The events feature four games per day with upperclassman and underclassman teams. There will be a home run derby on Tuesday, August 9th. The full schedule can be found here.
