Allstate Donates $25,000 To Boys Town

Allstate will donate $25,000 to Boys Town charities as part of its “Good Hands Fans” promotion. As part of the promotion, Allstate donated $500 for every foul ball and $1,000 for every home run on opening weekend of the College World Series. The donations will go toward construction of a new track for the at-risk youth at Boys Town in western Omaha, with a check donation scheduled on the field before Game Six of the CWS between Arizona and Oklahoma State on Monday night.

TCU hit two homers Sunday, including a three-run, game-winning shot by freshman Luken Baker in the ninth inning of its 5-3 victory against Texas Tech. The ball was struck solidly, sailing over the bullpen in left field and hitting the concrete in section 125.

That’s when Dalton Sterbenz of Lee’s Summitt, Mo., went after it, and came up with the ball. Sterbenz then got a trophy and photo to go with his souvenir baseball, commemorating him as a “Good Hands Fan.”

“I saw it coming, and I was afraid it was going to hit the foul pole,” Sterbenz said. “It bounced off the stairs, and I just went for it and got it on the bounce. There were a lot of people around and I was able to get it.

“It’s my first home run ball, and my first College World Series. I’m loving it so far.”

Dozens more fans had similar experiences of catching a CWS game and catching a foul ball, being part of the #GoodHandsFans team. It’s a three-year tradition that is becoming a consistent part of the fan experience at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
