Adidas Baseball Honors ‘Dad Jeans’ With On-Field Father’s Day Cleats

Let the idea of the “dad jean” wash all over you this weekend, even when watching Major League Baseball. As Father’s Day falls on this Sunday’s slate of MLB games, Adidas Baseball took the opportunity to design a special edition cleat for the holiday, all inspired by the iconic dad jean.

The limited edition adizero Afterburner Father’s Day cleat comes dipped in a soft, baby blue with denim striping details and highlights. Brown jean stitching accents the light blue Sprintskin upper and nubuck leather detailing on the tongue and pull tab work to combine all the Father’s Day jean elements Adidas could muster.

The lightest cleat in the game includes a seamless upper and a reinforced abrasion toecap. Designed aerodynamically to wrap the foot, the 2017 version of the cleat includes a breathable, compression bootie for movement in the ankle. An articulated heel helps keep the cleat connected to the foot.

With blue jeans blanketing the Father’s Day upper, the matte blue plate—cleats placement puts a premium on acceleration—helps underscore the design with additional blue tones.

More than 100 Adidas Baseball players will wear the cleat over the weekend, making dads the world over proud to pull on their denim for the day.
