Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger Among May’s Best

Aaron Judge, who leads the majors in homers with 17, and Cody Bellinger, second among rookies with 11 homers, were chosen as AL and NL Rookie of the Month for May.
Judge, who entered the season as the Yankees’ No. 6 prospect, hit .347 in May with seven homers, 17 RBIs and 15 walks in winning his second straight AL rookie of the month award. Overall, he’s hitting .326/.427/.680 with 17 homers.
Bellinger, the Dodgers’ top prospect, had nine homers and 27 RBIs in May. The son of former Yankee Clay Bellinger is hitting .252/.322/.565 with 11 homers.
In other monthly awards handed out Friday, the Astros’ Carlos Correa was AL Player of the Month after hitting .386 with seven homers and 26 RBIs. Charlie Blackmon of the Rockies won the NL award after hitting .359 with five triples, six doubles and six homers as well as 29 RBIs.
Lance McCullers was voted AL Pitcher of the Month after going 4-0, 0.99 with 37 strikeouts in 36.1 inning. Alex Wood of the Dodgers won the NL award after going 5-0, 1.27 with a 41/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Wood is now on the disabled list with SC joint inflammation in the front of his pitching shoulder.
Reliever of the month awards went to the Red Sox’s Craig Kimbrel, who had seven saves and struck out 25 in 12.2 innings and did not allow a run, and Greg Holland of the Rockies won the NL award as he was eight-for-eight in saves. He also won the award in April.
