2024 Minor League Baseball Playoffs Results, Top Performers & More

The 2024 postseason for minor league affiliates is now complete. Read on below for a complete rundown of league titles claimed and standout performers at each affiliate level.
Triple-A Championship Game
Champion: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (Astros)
The Space Cowboys used a potent offensive attack to defeat the Omaha Storm Chasers 13-6 in the single-game, winner-take-all Triple-A Championship game in Las Vegas. In a game in which all but one Sugar Land batter recorded a hit, it was Shay Whitcomb, who had been optioned to Triple-A the day before the game following a 20-game MLB debut, shining brightest. The Astros Minor League Player of the Year collected three hits, including a bases-clearing, 3-RBI double in the third that put the Space Cowboys ahead for good and earned Whitcomb MVP honors.

Triple-A
International League
Champion: Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals)
The Storm Chasers erased an 0-1 series deficit to earn their first-ever International League crown, defeating the Columbus Clippers, 7-3. Omaha, which was recently announced as the latest Diamond Baseball Holdings minor league acquisition, was powered by a trio of multiple-hit performances, including a 3-hit effort by third baseman Nate Eaton.

Pacific Coast League
Champion: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (Astros)
The Space Cowboys completed a 2-game sweep over the Reno Aces with a 5-2 victory to win their first Pacific Coast League title. Veteran Cooper Hummel collected three hits in the win and posted a 2.111 OPS for the series.

Eastern League
Champion: Erie SeaWolves (Tigers)
The SeaWolves made it back-to-back Eastern League titles with a 3-2 win over the Somerset Patriots. Austin Bergner led the way on the mound for Erie, tossing six shutout innings while Chris Meyers collected two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Southern League
Champion: Birmingham Barons (White Sox)
After giving up the lead in the ninth inning on a Chandler Simpson RBI double, the Barons walked off with their first Southern League title in over a decade when DJ Gladney laced the game-winning single to center to make it 3-2 in the first extra frame. Simpson, one of the minor leagues’ standout performers in 2024, reached base four times in the loss.

Texas League
Champion: Arkansas Travelers (Mariners)
After giving up three runs in the eighth inning to lose a late lead, the Travelers walked off with the Texas League championship thanks to a Alberto Rodriguez RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Midland RockHounds, 5-4. A pair of top prospects had standout performances for Arkansas, as Ben Williamson (Mariners’ No. 11 prospect) recorded three hits and drove in three runs while Logan Evans (No. 6) struck out nine in six innings of 1-run ball.

High-A
Midwest League
Champion: Lake County Captains (Guardians)
The Captains claimed their second Midwest League title with a 9-4 game-three win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Lake County scored five in the sixth inning to break it open while also getting two hits and an RBI from July’s No. 1 overall draft pick, Travis Bazzana, who had a .961 OPS in the series.

Northwest League
Champion: Spokane Indians (Rockies)
A talented Indians team claimed the Northwest League title in a most peculiar way: a walk-off HBP. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth, Kyle Karros took a fastball off the arm to break a 2-2 tie with the Vancouver Canadians in a game that also saw No. 3 overall draft pick Charlie Condon go 2-for-3 with an RBI.

South Atlantic League
Champion: Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays)
The Hot Rods continued the Rays’ long stretch of minor league success by bringing home their third SAL trophy in four years with a 4-1 win over the Hudson Valley Renegades. Jackson Baumeister, Tampa’s No. 23 prospect, pitched into the six inning, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven.

California League
Champion: Modesto Nuts (Mariners)
Make it back-to-back Cal League titles for the Nuts, who struck out 13 opposing batters in a 2-1 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm. Josh Caron, one of the Mariners’ top catching prospects, collected two hits and drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth inning.

Carolina League
Champion: Fredericksburg Nationals (Nationals)
The FredNats shutout the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 3-0 in winner-take-all game three that earned the big league club its first minor league championship since 2014. Twenty-year-old righthander Travis Sykora continued his recent stretch of dominance, holding Kannapolis to just one hit in five shutout innings to go with nine strikeouts.

Florida State League
Champion: Palm Beach Cardinals (Cardinals)
The Cardinals claimed their third league title in franchise history thanks to a 6-4 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Palm Beach was powered by several strong offensive performances, including that of top draft pick JJ Wetherholt, who laced a 2-RBI triple (his first as a professional) in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

Rookie Ball
Arizona Complex League
Champion: ACL Dodgers
The top-seeded ACL Dodgers defeated the ACL D-backs 8-1 in a single-game championship after advancing past the ACL Giants in the first round. A pair of top 10 Dodgers prospects in Eduardo Quintero and Joendry Vargas each recorded multi-hit games to help secure the win.

Florida Complex League
Champion: FCL Tigers
The FCL Tigers defeated the FCL Pirates 2-0 in the best-of-three championship series after getting past the FCL Marlins in the first round. Franyerber Montilla, the 19-year-old shortshop who checks in as Detroit’s No. 20 prospect, collected three hits and four RBIs in the series-clinching victory.

The DSL Red Sox Red defeated the DSL Angels 2-1 in best-of-3 series after advancing through matchups with the DSL Rangers and DSL Cleveland Goryl.
