On Saturday, thousands of fans, scouts and front office personnel will descend upon Guv Fuller field in Falmouth for the Cape Cod League’s annual all-star game. One of the top amateur events on the summer calendar, the exhibition is a one-stop shop for the league’s best talent. Numerous top draft picks have competed in recent years, including 2024 first rounders Cam Smith, James Tibbs III and No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana.

This year’s game is loaded with talent once again and features numerous potential day one selections. Below you’ll find rosters for both the East and West divisions, as well as five potential standouts for each team.

East Division Players To Watch

Aiva Arquette, SS, Washington (Chatham)

After hitting .325/.384/.574 with 14 doubles and 12 home runs this spring for the Huskies, Arquette hasn’t missed a beat this summer to the tune of a .296/.364/.459 slash line with nine extra-base hits and 20 RBIs across 28 games. The 6-foot-4 shortstop has above-average power and has shown the ability to drive the baseball with authority to all fields. Arquette has played a quality shortstop this summer, a position he has not started at regularly since two summers ago in the West Coast League. He has a great body with present power—and potentially more coming—and if his hit tool can take another step forward, there is potential top-half-of-the-first-round upside in 2025.

Cody Bowker, RHP, Vanderbilt (Orleans)

Bowker is one arm who has put himself squarely on the map this summer. This spring at Georgetown, he pitched his way to a 3.00 ERA with 59 strikeouts to 20 walks across 48 innings. Bowker has had similar success this summer and is currently sporting a 3.00 ERA with 25 strikeouts to just three walks in 27.2 innings. Bowker possesses an intriguing combination of strikes and stuff, headlined by a sweeping slider. He has a true five-pitch mix—all of which he can land for strikes—and profiles as an eventual day two selection in next July’s draft.

Nick Dumesnil, OF, California Baptist (Brewster)

Dumesnil was a player that I became enamored with this spring, and he was my pick-to-click this summer for the Whitecaps. After a little bit of a slow start, Dumesnil adjusted and is now hitting .324/.383/.500 with 10 doubles, three home runs and a league-leading 23 stolen bases. At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Dumesnil is an elite athlete with a pro body. He has a simple and athletic operation in the box with plenty of bat speed, and he is more than capable of driving the baseball to all fields. His quality of each at-bat and pitch recognition skills have drastically improved over the course of the summer. Dumesnil’s combination of speed and athleticism allow him to cover plenty of ground in centerfield, which is where he figures to stick professionally. He has five-tool upside and could be the first Cal Baptist product selected in the first round.

Braden Osbolt, RHP, Kennesaw State (Yarmouth-Dennis)

Following a solid season at Kennesaw State, Osbolt has seen his draft stock rise this summer. Across five starts spanning 23.2 innings, he has a 2.28 ERA with 15 strikeouts to eight walks. Don’t let the lack of strikeouts fool you; there is real present stuff with Osbolt. He moves well on the mound and has an athletic delivery with easy arm speed. His fastball sits in the low 90s and has been up to 96, and his slider has the look of a potential future plus pitch. Osbolt’s changeup is at least above-average as is, and it’s a pitch he has shown comfort throwing to both left and righthanded hitters.

Ethan Petry, OF/1B, South Carolina (Yarmouth-Dennis)

Petry has torn up college pitching for two seasons now, most recently posting a .306/.471/.439 slash line with 30 extra-base hits, but I was curious how his game would translate to the Cape League. At this point, it’s pretty safe to say he has passed with flying colors. The South Carolina product is hitting .354/.469/.747 with seven doubles, eight home runs and 21 RBIs in 24 games. Petry uses a modified toe tap that leads into a normal stride, though his hands drop and drift, and his swing can get long at times. While he’s a finished product physically, Petry has 70-grade raw power. He has arm strength in the outfield, but he seems destined for first base in the long run. Although you’re most likely looking at a right-right first baseman, Petry’s offensive profile could be enough to warrant a first-round selection in 2025.

West Division Players To Watch

Triston Gray, 3B, Fresno State (Wareham)

The Fresno State third baseman has been the catalyst of a revamped Wareham lineup this season. Gray pairs advanced bat-to-ball skills with power and the ability to consistently put the ball in the air. Gray is hitting .348/.387/.548 entering the weekend and has the fourth highest OPS in the CCBL. Gray’s 60% line drive + flyball rate stands out, as his ability to get his best contact in the air is noteworthy. It’s a simple righthanded swing with an uppercut path and lightning quick hands. He shows exciting high-end exit velocities, as well, with a max EV of 108.9 mph. He’s an aggressive swinger that looks to put the ball in play, which could lead to some fireworks in Saturday’s all-star game.

Brendan Summerhill, OF, Arizona (Wareham)

After a strong sophomore season with Arizona, Summerhill has carried that momentum through to the Cape. Heading into the weekend, Summerhill is hitting .296/.363/.457 with 8 extra base hits and 12 stolen bases. Summerhill comes with speed, the ability to play centerfield and has an advanced hit tool. This summer, Summerhill has shown plus contact rates across all pitch types with a balanced approach. His batted-ball angles aren’t optimized, but he shows above-average raw power. Summerhill has the ability to make standout plays on both sides of the ball in Saturday’s all-star game.

Ethan Conrad, OF, Wake Forest (Bourne)

After an outstanding season at Marist where Conrad led the nation in triples, he entered the portal and committed to Wake Forest to follow in the footsteps of another Cape standout in Seaver King. Conrad is hitting .370/.410/.467 with five extra base hits and 17 stolen bases and has shown advanced bat-to-ball skills, a balanced approach and solid underlying exit velocity data. Conrad’s swing is optimized for hard contact in the air, and his speed allows him to take wreck havoc on the base paths. Conrad has continued to cement his place among the top college hitting prospects in the 2025 class.

Marek Houston, SS, Wake Forest (Bourne)

One of the better athletes in the 2025 college class, Houston has built on a solid sophomore campaign with a strong showing in the CCBL. He’s a strong defender at shortstop that should stick at the position as a professional. Houston has hit .343/.494/.373 with seven stolen bases and more walks than strikeouts. He shows extremely advanced bat-to-ball skills and approach, though his power is below-average and a majority of his contact is on the ground. Despite his lack of impact, his advanced hit tool and strong defensive abilities make him capable of making standout plays on both sides of the ball.

Tanner Thach, 1B, UNC Wilmington (Cotuit)

An 18th round pick by the Giants out of high school, Thach didn’t sign and ended up on campus at UNC Wilmington. Over two seasons with the Seahawks, Thach has hit .308/.383/.626 with 42 home runs, including 27 in 2024. In his second summer with Cotuit, the Kettleers’ leadoff hitter has been one of the most difficult outs in the league this summer, hitting .286/.400/.582 with eight home runs, which is tied for second in the CCBL. Thach shows average plate skills with above-average raw power and a swing that is optimized for contact in the air. Thach is among the players most likely to go yard in Saturday’s all-star game.
