If you’re looking for instructional league flamethrowers, look no further than Twins righthander Chase Petty. Minnesota’s first-round pick in the 2021 draft already has reached triple-digits with his fastball, which he pairs with a nasty slider that has flashed plus-plus potential. Righthander Marco Raya, the team’s fourth-rounder from 2020, would be one to keep an eye on as well, though he missed the season with injury.
Infielder Christian Encarnacion-Strand put together an excellent professional debut as well. The Twins’ fourth-rounder out of Oklahoma State slashed .391/.424/.598 with four home runs for Low-A Fort Myers. Talented outfielders Emmanuel Rodriguez (whose 10 home runs tied him for second in the Florida Complex League) and Kala’i Rosario, who showed glimpses of power and speed in the FCL, are also among the highlights in the Twins’ position-player group.
