2020 Houston Astros Instructional League Roster
The Astros’ instructional league roster, while expansive, only includes a smattering of the team’s top prospects. Some of the absences are players who had to be added to the 40-man roster during the season thanks to massive roster churn, especially in the bullpen.
Top prospect Forrest Whitley, who has dealt with injuries and inconsistency over the past few years, is not among the group, although he was part of the team’s 60-man player pool in Corpus Christi. A fair amount of the players omitted from the instructional league roster—including pitchers Shawn Dubin, Jojanse Torres and Nivaldo Rodriguez were at the team’s alternate training site this summer.
Three of the team’s 2020 draftees are on the roster; the lone exception being third-round righthander Tyler Brown. Houston also included its top 2019 international signee, outfielder Dauri Lorenzo.
