2019 NJCAA Division I World Series Preview
The 2019 Alpine Bank NJCAA Division I World Series field is set as the tournament is slated to begin on Saturday, May 25 at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colorado.
The 10 teams selected to the double-elimination tournament will compete to make it to the National Championship game that will be played on June 1. Each team competing in the tournament earned a spot by winning its respective district.
Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) is making its fifth tournament appearance in program history, all of which have occured in the last six years.
Chipola (Flor.), the defending back-to-back champion, is seeking a fourth National Championship since 2007. This year, the Indians will be without Jose Caballero who won Most Outstanding Player in both the 2017 and 2018 tournaments.
Cowley (Kan.) head coach Dave Burroughs was named to the 2018 Junior College Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and is currently one win away from 1,300 career victories.
Iowa Western, a familiar face in the postseason with 19 tournament appearances in program history, upset the No. 1 team in the country, Wabash Valley (Ill.) to be crowned champion of the Northern District.
