LONG BEACH, Calif. — The 2019 Area Code Games concluded last week, but at Baseball America we are naming an “All-Area Code Team” to honor the highest-performing players at the event.
One of the must-see showcase events of the summer, the entire major league scouting community annually attends the games to see the top players representing every region of the country. While it’s only five days of playing, and small sample sizes can be misleading, the event is integral to scouting departments in their evaluations of the prep class.
We covered some of the standout players from a scouting perspective throughout the week, and you can check out each of our notebooks from the event below, but the All Area Code Team is meant to reward performance on the field. This is not a team made up of the top prospects, in terms of draft status, but rather a team of the most impressive statistical performances throughout the week.
