2018 Position Rankings: Third Base
A banner crop for third baseman includes two Top 10 prospects, four others who made the Top 100, and two others (Ke’Bryan Hayes and Christian Arroyo) who received consideration. Vladimir Guerrero and Nick Senzel are potential superstars at the top, and even into the teens there are potential first-division regulars in players like Sheldon Neuse and Lucas Erceg.
There is a notable droppoff at the bottom, and question marks on a few guys at the top (Austin Riley’s and Michael Chavis’ hitting ability, Ryan Mountcastle’s arm, Christian Arroyo’s injury history, etc.) prevents this from being a true five-star class. Still, there is an an exciting, high-upside group of prospects at third base for 2018.
