2018 Position Rankings: Shortstop
The most loaded position group in the 2018 prospect class resides up the middle. Shortstops make up seven of the top 24 prospects in the BA Top 100, including three of the top 10 (Gleyber Torres, Bo Bichette, Fernando Tatis Jr.), last year’s No. 1 overall draft pick (Royce Lewis) and another set to start Opening Day playing shortstop in the majors (J.P. Crawford). With a mix of players near big-league ready, down in the lower levels and moving to higher levels at young ages, this year’s shortstop class is deep, talented and exciting.
