2017 Top 100 Prospects Position Rankings: Righthanders

SEE ALSO: Top 100 Prospects

Just as there have never been so many highly ranked shortstops, there have never been so few highly ranked righthanders in the Top 100. Alex Reyes and Francis Martes are the only righties to crack the top 20, the fewest righthanders there have ever been in that top group. Between a weak college draft crop in recent years and many top prospects getting shelled in their big league debuts last year (Tyler Glasnow, Lucas Giolito, Jose De Leon, Reynaldo Lopez, Jeff Hoffman), there just isn’t a much in the way of star power among righthanders right now, though young flame-throwers Mitch Keller, Anderson Espinoza, Yadier Alvarez and Michael Kopech at the lower levels could change that soon and there is as usual plenty of depth.
