2017 Top 100 Prospects Position Rankings: Catchers
SEE ALSO: Top 100 Prospects
The top-heavy catcher class features three backstops who can really hit but face defensive questions (Francisco Mejia, Zack Collins and Chance Sisco) and two stout defenders whose offensive potential is up for debate (Carson Kelly, Jorge Alfaro). Still, all five are bona fide Top 100 Prospects, with Rockies thumper Tom Murphy just missing the cut. The depth beyond those top six catchers is severely lacking, with a backup or platoon role being the likely ceiling for the rest of the list.
