Stanford, Calif. – Stanford (40-14)
Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State (39-20)
Winston-Salem, N.C. – Wake Forest (39-18)
One of the regionals will start Thursday, and will run through either June 4 or June 5, while the rest of the 15 regionals start Friday and run through June 5, if necessary.
It’s the 34th regional hosting berth for Florida State, while LSU is making its 25th appearance as a host. Stanford is a host for 16th time, while Clemson and Florida have been hosts 15 times.
Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Louisville, TCU and Texas Tech all return as hosts from 2016. Wake Forest is a host for the first time since 2002.
The selection of Clemson was somewhat of a surprise over Virginia, the lone team in the top 16 in RPI not to be a host. Houston was 17th. That is the second straight year one team in the top 16 in RPI was not chosen as a host; only last year Virginia was No. 17 and hosted over Coastal Carolina.
The remaining at-large teams, top eight national seeds, first-round regional pairings and site assignments will be announced tomorrow at noon ET.
