2017 MLB Draft Position Rankings: Outfielders

The high school outfielder demographic is one of the riskiest in the draft historically, but if a team picks the right guy, they can end up with talents like Bryce Harper and Mike Trout. This class is particularly deep with toolsy prep outfielders, and several could go in the first round.

There’s also a deep group of college outfielders who have the speed and instincts to stick in center field, such as Brian Miller and Stuart Fairchild.

Royce Lewis is at the top of this list, even though he played shortstop for his high school team this spring. He flashed promising instincts in center field on the summer showcase and could be an elite defender there if he doesn’t end up sticking at shortstop.
