The 2017 All-Star Game will feature a new crop of the game’s brightest young stars.
The All-Star rosters were announced Sunday and include seven first-time participants as starters, most of whom were Top 100 Prospects at some point. Carlos Correa (No. 4, 2015), Aaron Judge (No. 90, 2017), George Springer (No. 18, 2014), Justin Smoak (No. 13, 2010), Jose Ramirez and Corey Dickerson will all make their first All-Star appearances starting for the American League. Zack Cozart (No. 75, 2012) is starting at shortstop for the National League in his first All-Star appearance.
The All-Star Game contains plenty of rookie flavor as well. Judge and Cody Bellinger (No. 7, 2017) were selected in the midst of historic rookie campaigns. Both of last year’s Rookie of the Year Award winners, Corey Seager (No. 1, 2016) and Michael Fulmer (No. 47, 2016) are going to Miami as well.
Other former Top 100 Prospects making their first All-Star appearances include Yonder Alonso, Gary Sanchez, Miguel Sano, Luis Severino, Avisail Garcia, Lance McCullers, Michael Conforto and Jake Lamb.
