2017 Midwest League All-Star Game Rosters

Midwest League All-Star Game

When: June 20.

Where: Dow Diamond, Midland, Mich.

Prospects To Watch:

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 3B, and Bo Bichette, SS, Lansing (Blue Jays): The 18-year-old teammate sons of ex-big leaguers have taken the Midwest League by storm this year and become two of baseball’s most prized prospects. Guerrero, the son of the Expos and Angels great of the same name, is hitting .322/.422/.484 and evoking comparisons to his father. The younger Guerrero is certainly on a faster track than his dad, who similarly dominated the low Class A level but did so at age 20. Bichette, son of former Rockies All-Star Dante, is hitting .382, the second-best mark in the minors, with 20 doubles, six home runs and a 1.073 OPS.

Fernando Tatis, Jr., SS, Fort Wayne (Padres): Speaking of the sons of former big leaguers, the 18-year-old son of former Cardinals and Expos third baseman Fernando Tatis is a rising standout in his own right. The fifth-youngest player in the league on Opening Day, Tatis has hit .262/.329/.416 while showing big power and playing a highlight-reel shortstop with plus arm strength.

Jon Duplantier, RHP, Kane County (Diamondbacks): The 2016 third-round pick out of Rice has been arguably the most dominant pitcher in the minors this season. Duplantier is 6-0, 0.74 with 66 strikeouts and 13 walks in 60.2 innings this year. His ERA is the lowest in the entire minor leagues, and he is second in WHIP (0.74) and third in opponent average (.158)

Dylan Cease, RHP, South Bend (Cubs): Cease has lived up to his billing as the Cubs top pitching prospect in his first full season. The 21-year-old righthander has 54 strikeouts in just 34 innings with a fastball capable of reaching triple-digits and a potential plus curveball. Cease has lasted five innings in only three of his eight starts this season, but his stuff has been electric when he is on the mound.
