The Stars: OF Ronald Acuna (Braves) is one of baseball’s elite prospects after racing through the minors and excelling at Triple-A at age 19 . . . 3B Michael Chavis (Red Sox) set the record for home runs at high Class A Salem’s Memorial Field in half a season and was the Carolina League All-Star Game MVP. He is tied for sixth in the minors with 29 home runs . . . 2B/SS Luis Urias hit .319 with an .824 OPS as the youngest player in the Double-A Texas League before an ankle injury sapped his production.
Interesting: LHP Max Fried (Braves) went 2-11, 5.92 at Double-A, got called up to the majors and made four appearances out of the bullpen, and is now back starting at Triple-A . . . C Alex Jackson (Braves), the sixth overall pick in 2014, is in his first season catching after playing the outfield his first three professional seasons. He previously caught in high school . . . C Joe DeCarlo (Mariners) also made the move behind the plate this year after playing third base his first five seasons as a pro…RHP Andres Munoz (Padres) is the youngest player on an AFL roster by more than a year. The 18-year-old Mexican righthander touched 100 mph out of the bullpen each of the past two seasons.
Rehabbing: OF Kyle Lewis (Mariners) missed the first half of the season recovering from a torn ACL and has played only 31 non-rehab games this year . . . RHP T.J. Zeuch (Blue Jays) is on the disabled list with a lower back strain and has pitched just 9.2 innings since May 27, as a left hamstring strain set him back during rehab . . . SS Lourdes Gurriel (Blue Jays) was hampered by thumb and hamstring injuries early in the year and has played just 58 games after signing a seven-year, $22 million contract last offseason.
