Drafted in the 18th round (548th overall) by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 (signed for $125,000).
View Draft Report
Brown is a righthanded-hitting, 5-foot-9 high school third baseman. He doesn't have prototypical size for a high school draft pick, but his knack for making hard contact gives him a chance to develop into a promising hitter at the next level. He flashes above-average to plus bat speed and natural rhythm and timing at the plate, with the ability to sell out for pullside power when he wants to, or shoot a line drive to the opposite field gap. He has average arm strength at third base and some evaluators question his defensive actions, and would like to see him improve there with dedication and reps. Brown also pitches and throws his fastball mostly in the upper 80s, but can bump the low 90s. He is committed to High Point, where he could have an immediate impact and became a more substantial draft prospect down the line.
