Drafted in the 4th round (125th overall) by the Detroit Tigers in 2017 (signed for $325,000).
View Draft Report
Arrierra was a late-rising prospect after an impressive freshman year at Palm Beach State (Fla.). His control and command are fringy, and lead to mixed results over the course of the season, although he did finish up 10-2, 3.89 with 10.3 K/9. When Arrierra was on he was throwing strikes with a heavy fastball at 92-94 mph and an above-average to plus curveball. He's well-built at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds and he earns positive reviews for his competitiveness. Arrierra has the arm strength and secondary pitch to be developed as a starter at the next level, but if his command doesn't take the next step forward he could have an impact as a reliever, especially if his velocity spikes in short bursts. He's expected to go somewhere on day two of the draft.
