View Draft Report
A big (6-foot-4, 236-pounds) slugger with excellent raw power, Hall has shown he can get to that power on a regular basis. He had a four-home run game against Incarnate Word, and Hall's 18 home runs and .624 slugging percentage both ranked among national leaders. He also pitched in as a the team's Saturday starter (he bats left but throws right). The power in his bat is better than the power on his fastball. Hall's selling point to a pro team is the bat. Although he hit .300 this year, his swing has length and does not project to allow him to be even an average hitter without significant tweaks. But with leverage and strength, Hall is comfortable driving the ball out to anywhere from left-center field to the right-field foul pole, which should get his name called some time relatively quickly on day two of the draft.

BA Grade: 40/Medium
Midseason Update: Hall's plus bat speed has led to max exit velocities at 119 mph, and he parlayed his success at Triple-A into a big league promotion on June 29. He immediately made his presence felt with a two-homer performance in his second big league game. Hall is a first base-only prospect with one outstanding tool, his power, but that tool should be enough to keep him in the majors as a lefty bat off the bench.
Track Record: Drafted by the Phillies in the 14th round out of Dallas Baptist in 2016, Hall has always shown tantalizing power, but struggled to hit for much contact upon reaching High-A in 2019. He made an adjustment to his approach in 2021 at Triple-A and the results showed, as he hit .314 in July and .276 in August. He's carried those gains to the 2022 season, with 10 home runs and a .288 average through 118 at-bats with Lehigh Valley.
Scouting Report: Power will always be Hall's calling card, and his exit velocity numbers rival some of the best power hitters in the game. He's hit multiple balls 119 mph and his 90th percentile exit velocity checked in at 109.7 mph for the month of April. He has quick bat speed from the left side and has put an emphasis on driving more balls in the air and cutting down on his swing and miss, while slightly improving his bat-to-ball skills. Despite the improvements, it's still a below-average hit tool at best, but with 70-grade power. Hall is likely limited to a first base or DH role at the big league level, putting pressure on his bat, but he has more than enough power to fit the profile.
The Future: Hall could be in line for his big league debut after starting the year on an encouraging note, with the ability to give the Phillies a power bat off the bench or in a platoon role.
