Drafted in the 14th round (408th overall) by the Texas Rangers in 2015 (signed for $100,000).

A redshirt junior who underwent Tommy John surgery while he was still in high school, Choplick has bounced between mid-week starter and weekend reliever. At 6-foot-8, 260 pounds, Choplick looks more like a power forward than a lefty reliever, but that appears to be his best role. His fastball plays up (92-94 mph) out of the pen and his below-average control--which isn't helped by the long levers that come with being as tall as he is--is less of an issue in relief.
