Drafted in the 20th round (601st overall) by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2015.

East Carolina's ace is the younger brother of Brewers catcher Jonathan LuCroy. Like Jonathan, David's arm strength has come on more as he's aged. The younger LuCroy worked at 88-93 this spring, and his fastball has late sink to it. There's also some deception in the 6-foot, 215-pounder's delivery. His slider shows late, two-plane break and is an above-average pitch for him on the right day. LuCroy has worked on a changeup, and the pitch shows promise, but is well below-average at present. LuCroy's stuff holds up well deep into games, and he's able to generate weak contact when he's pounding the bottom of the strike zone. After a strong showing as a redshirt freshman in 2013, LuCroy battled command in 2014. He has bounced back strong this spring, and some scouts see him as a strong middle reliever, with a chance for him to develop into a back-of-the-rotation starter.
