Drafted in the 30th round (900th overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014.
View Draft Report
The Rays drafted Mitsuit in the 12th round in 2011 but he didn't sign, instead headlining a Washington recruiting class that has led the Huskies to its first regional beth since 2006. Mitsui has a power-hitter's body at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, yet he had only one home run in his first two seasons. His opposite-field approach helped him hit for average, and he's turned on a few more balls this season, helping him hit .335/.419/.467 with five homers entering regional play. Mitsui has some stiffness to his swing and first-base actions, as he's a below-average defender. He has plus raw power; the homers he hits are moonshots. He just doesn't hit enough of them to be a top selection.
