A 16th-round pick of the Blue Jays out of high school, scouts have long seen Papierski's ability to handle velocity as he was high school teammates with hard-throwing prospect Jake Latz and he's caught a talented staff at Louisiana State as well. Papierski is a solid catch-and-throw catcher, it's his lack of offensive projection that will keep him from hearing his name called too early. He's a below-average hitter with a little pop, giving him a potential backup catcher profile.

Papierski got extra looks from scouts this spring thanks to teaming with Jake Latz on Lemont Township High's club, with both being Louisiana State commitments. Latz had a tremendous spring, helping carry the team deep into the Illinois state playoffs, with Papierski being one of the team's top hitters. He's a switch-hitter with some leverage and strength, and solid hitting tools for a catcher. Papierski also has average catch-and-throw tools, though his skills need polish. He doesn't own a true plus tool, though.
