Shields made steady progress for the Seahawks this season. He has above-average to plus speed and excellent instincts in center field, indicating that he should stay at the position at the next level. Shields' bat lags behind his defense at present, but he made tremendous strides this season, and has some tools offensively. Shields is an aggressive hitter, and will often swing at the first pitch he can get his barrel on. He calmed down this tendency towards the end of the season, and the development of his approach will play a key part of his future.
