Draft Prospects
A projectable lefthander, Moats might not be signable away from a Coastal Carolina commitment but could be an early-round draft pick after three years with the Chanticleers. The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder didn't attract a lot of attention on the showcase circuit last summer, when he operated with a mid-80s fastball and a soft breaking ball. As the weather warmed up this spring, he began working at 86-90 mph and showing the potential for a plus curveball. Moates also has a feel for a changeup and throws strikes from a high three-quarters delivery.
