Ghelfi missed a few weeks this year with a bruised hand, but as soon as he returned to action, he returned to hitting. The son of righthander Andy Ghelfi, a second-round pick of the Indians in 1985, Ghelfi is a switch-hitter with a line-drive stroke from either batter's box. He is an excellent athlete for a catcher, but his receiving and blocking is below-average. His best attribute defensively is a well-above-average arm. He's been clocked at 90-mph plus off the mound and could end up pitching as a fallback option if hitting doesn't work out.
