Drafted in the 12th round (374th overall) by the Washington Nationals in 2015 (signed for $125,000).
View Draft Report
Peterson missed his freshman year due to Tommy John surgery and pitched well in his return to action in 2014. He was used as both a starter and a reliever last year, but has taken a step forward this spring as the Bulls closer. Peterson has seen his velocity jump from 88-92 mph in the fall to 92-94 and touching 96 this spring. His second pitch is a slider, which is an average offering, but is a bit inconsistent. He does have a changeup, but hasn't used it much as a reliever. Peterson, a redshirt sophomore, projects as a reliever as a professional, but has definitely put himself on the map this spring.
