Drafted in the 20th round (605th overall) by the Cincinnati Reds in 2014.
View Draft Report
Seton Hall featured a trio of draft-eligible power arms with Jose Lopez, Josh Prevost and Krauss, who generated a lot of excitement among scouts by touching 96 mph in the fall. While Lopez had Tommy John surgery and Prevost emerged as a potential top-five-round pick, Krauss saw limited mound time due to control problems. He made just four starts and pitched 28 innings in relief. His best fit in pro ball is as a short-stint reliever, and a team will take a flier on him because of his natural arm strength and body, as he has a good pitcher's build at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds with long extremities. His fastball has been 90-93 mph this spring with effort, but when his mechanics are right he drives the ball downhill. He throws an inconsistent slider with average potential, and he rarely uses a third offering. Krauss has walked 7.3 per nine in his career versus 9.5 strikeouts per nine. He can cut himself off in his delivery and has a long arm action.
