Bechtold batted just .218 as a redshirt freshman at Maryland in 2016. He transferred to Chipola and took off under the tutelage of head coach Jeff Johnson. Bechtold is a righthanded hitter capable of generating plus bat speed with a compact swing path. He's able to drive the ball to all fields and he has grown into more power this spring. Bechtold got off to a hot start to the season and put up excellent numbers for Chipola, batting .421/.535/.683 and hitting 11 home runs. Most scouts project him to develop an average bat with plus power, though his limited track record creates some uncertainty. Bechtold is an above-average runner, has plenty of arm strength for the left side and scouts believe he can stick at third base.

The second Puerto Rican player taken in his draft class, behind only Cardinals first-rounder Delvin Perez, Miranda found his power stroke in his first full pro season. He tied for the Appalachian League lead in home runs while fanning less than 10 percent of the time. Extremely athletic and still growing into his body, Miranda shows advanced plate discipline and projects to hit for both average and power as he climbs the ladder. He has good balance at the plate with quiet hands and a moderate load and stride, enabling him to use all fields with authority. An average runner with an above-average arm, he has more than enough mobility to handle second. Miranda did make eight errors in 37 games, but some of that was due to his above-average range. Miranda's power potential and future frame could land him at third permanently. He figures to open 2018 at low Class A Cedar Rapids.

Bechtold experienced two of baseball's greatest events for amateurs just 10 days apart. On June 3, his Chipola club won the Junior College World Series, and then on June 13, he was drafted. The Twins were so enamored of Bechtold's offensive approach during the draft process that, when the fifth round came into view, they couldn't let the Maryland transfer slide any further. Bechtold's offense is built around a compact swing with above-average bat speed, allowing him to make contact at a high rate. Scouts have tabbed him for at least average contact ability with a chance for a plus hit tool at peak. Bechtold's power isn't prolific like that of his teammate Brent Rooker, but he's able to go the opposite way with the ball and earns above-average power grades. While not a burner, he's capable of threatening a stolen base at any time. A natural third baseman, Bechtold's plus arm strength secures him a definitive role at the hot corner. The Twins have been so impressed by his athleticism that they plan to try him at second base, shortstop, and even the outfield during instructional league.
