Hart saw 818 players drafted ahead of him before the Orioles selected him in 2013. Despite that low profile, Hart made steady progress through the system and began 2016 at Double-A Bowie, where he made the Eastern League all-star team. Days later he made his major league debut and immediately became a key bullpen lefty for the Orioles in the second half. From a sidearm delivery, Hart works with a high-80s fastball with sink and solid command, and he throws a slider that was at times a swing-and-miss pitch. He spotted in a changeup as well. Hart showed poise and was not afraid, according to Baltimore manager Buck Showalter. For example, lefthanded sluggers Bryce Harper and David Ortiz went 0-for-5 against him. His slider, thrown in the high 70s, held hitters to an .050 average. Hart ultimately gave up just one run in 22 appearances over 18.1 innings for the Orioles, holding lefties to a .132 average. In addition to his major league dominance, he was named the Orioles minor league pitcher of the year. Hart sought extensive knowledge and advice from veterans Zach Britton and Darren O'Day, and he's in position to join them as a bullpen stalwart for the long-term in 2017.
