Drafted in the 8th round (260th overall) by the Colorado Rockies in 2010 (signed for $125,000).

He's the best juco prospect from the state since Desmond Jennings, a 10th-round pick of the Rays in 2006. Dickerson has the hitting ability to step right into the Bulldogs' lineup, having hit .474 with 19 home runs in 137 at-bats at Meridian. He has a pro body and present strength, he plays hard and his best tool is his bat, an attractive profile. He's a fringe-average runner and profiles as a left fielder. He had right labrum surgery in 2007, and his arm has never bounced back, with one evaluator giving him a well-below-average grade.

Organization Prospect Rankings
Though he hit 32 homers at Asheville in 2011, taking advantage of a short right-field porch, Dickerson worked exceptionally hard after the season to become a more complete player. He reported to spring training in the best shape since joining the organization and played as if on a mission. After dominating the California League, he earned a promotion to Double-A in mid-June. He broke his nose when hit with a pitch July 23 but was back in the lineup five days later, albeit hitting with a mask attached to his helmet that complicated matters for a couple of weeks. Dickerson has become a much better overall hitter. He has learned to use the entire field and drives the ball well to left-center. His quick hands enable him to consistently move the barrel of his bat to the ball. He has good pitch recognition and is adept at fighting off a good pitch to keep an at-bat alive. Dickerson worked on his agility and has become a slightly better than average runner. His defense in left field had been a huge liability and remains a work in progress, but is notably better, though he still has a below-average arm. He likely will open 2013 in Triple-A.
The Rockies obviously liked what they saw in Dickerson. After drafting him in the 29th round in 2009 and failing to sign him, they drafted Dickerson again last June and this time signed him away from a Mississippi State commitment for $125,000. Coming off a junior college all-America season for Meridian (Miss.) CC, in which he hit .459 with 21 home runs and 71 RBIs, Dickerson made an impact in his pro debut, hitting .348 and leading the Pioneer League with 61 RBIs and 175 total bases. Dickerson has quick hands and big-time bat speed. His offense is what will carry him to the big leagues. He profiles as a left fielder with fringy speed and a below-average arm that has yet to rebound from 2007 surgery for a torn right labrum. Given his age, he could play his way onto the Modesto roster in the spring.
