Darren Dreifort

Wichita State reliever Dreifort remains the prime candidate to be drafted first overall by the Mariners, though he got knocked around in his first few outings. Scouts say there’s nothing physically wrong with the 6-foot-2, 205-pound righthander, who typically is overpowering when he sports his hard, sinking fastball. Dreifort is so strong and mechanically sound that there’s talk he could be in the big leagues by September.
