Vazquez had a strong Cape Cod League last summer, has a good body and had a consistent track record of hitting entering this season. But he struggled and has little to fall back on if he doesn't hit. He is limited to left field at the pro level, with below-average speed and a below-average arm. The lefthanded hitter has a 6-foot-4, 215-pound build with room for additional muscle and has drawn physical comparisons to David Justice. But he hit .246/.312/.400 this season with his strikeout (14 percent) and walk rates (8 percent) moving in the wrong directions. His drop in production is primarily because of a .250 BABIP, after posting a .372 BABIP his first two seasons. Scouts aren't fond of his hitting load at the plate. He is capable of impressive displays of raw power in batting practice, but that power has yet to translate to game action. He has nine career home runs, with six this season. His tepid production has made him tough to figure out for scouts who like his body and hitting potential.
