A big-bodied, 6-foot-5, 215-pound lefthander, Kruczynski didn't emerge for East Carolina until his sophomore and junior years, when he grabbed the Friday night starter reins under head coach Cliff Godwin. In 2016, Kruczynski went 8-1, 2.01 in 116.2 innings to help lead the Pirates to super regionals, yet he went undrafted. Named a team captain this year, Kruczynski injured his ankle earlier in the season on a comebacker and was limited to just 56.1 innings. Kruczynski doesn't have a plus pitch, but he's a plus competitor with an attacking mindset on the mound. He exhibits a strong work ethic. The lefthander's fastball sits comfortably in the upper 80's, and he commands mid-70s changeup with sinking action to his arm-side and a loopy, slow curveball. Without a true swing-and-miss pitch, Kruczynski's ceiling is that of a backend starter or long reliever.
