Ring is a center fielder with plus speed and a swing to find the gaps.
Ring is the top high school prospect in Illinois, though it's a lackluster crop and he's not expected to be signable away from a Missouri commitment. His best tool is his plus speed, which he enhances with keen instincts on the bases and in center field. He covers a lot of ground defensively and has a solid arm as well. The 6-foot, 175-pounder profiles as a leadoff type, but his lefthanded swing has regressed and gotten longer this spring. He's trying to pull and lift too many pitches, when hitting line drives should be his focus. He has gap power but won't be a major home run threat.
