Brown was the Division III NJCAA pitcher of the year in 2014 at Tyler (Texas) JC, leading the team to a national championship. He transferred to Mississippi State as a sophomore and was in the rotation for a last-place Bulldogs team that turned around and finished first in the Southeastern Conference in 2016. Brown lost his rotation spot in conference play, however, and the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder profiles best as a pro reliever. He's got two pitches that should play with an 88-92 mph fastball and slider that flashes above-average. The combination should make him competitive as a relief specialist.
