Myers had some early buzz this spring after he touched 93 mph with his fastball, but has more typically pitched around 90 mph. He combines his fastball with a solid curveball and a seldom-used changeup. Myers is a good athlete and has a loose, easy delivery that he repeats well. He earns praise for his pitchability. Listed at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, there is some projection to him, particularly because has been a two-way player in high school. Myers is committed to South Florida.

Track Record: Drafted in the sixth round in 2016 by the Orioles, Myers was traded at the deadline the following year to the Rays. He steadily climbed through the minor leagues to reach Triple-A Durham in 2021. Following the season, he was traded to the Guardians for Junior Caminero.
Scouting Report: Myers in 2021 saw his stuff tick up, as his fastball sat around 93-95 mph with some of the biggest vertical movement in the minor leagues. His best secondary offering is a mid-80s breaking ball that he calls a cutter. He also mixes in an above-average changeup and a big curveball. His stuff all plays up thanks to his plus control. Myers is a little undersized at 6 feet, 193 pounds, but his combination of stuff and control makes for an intriguing package. He has a starter profile, though his stuff would also play in relief.
The Future: The Guardians added Myers to the 40-man roster after acquiring him and he’ll go to spring training in competition for a spot on staff, though he’ll likely make his organizational debut with Triple-A Columbus.

Some people were scratching their heads–including many in the Rays clubhouse–when at the trade deadline the Rays sent infielder Tim Beckham to the Orioles for a minor league pitcher who had yet to reach the full-season ranks. Myers showed many of the traits that interested the Rays prior to the 2015 draft. A two-way player in high school who signed for $225,000 as a sixth-round pick, Myers is an excellent athlete with a loose and easy arm action. He understands how to pitch, possesses outstanding control, and has shown the ability to make quick adjustments during his short time in pro ball. His fastball now resides at 93-96 mph with solid movement, after sitting around 90 mph in high school. His plus curveball has a sharp drop, and he mixes it well with his fastball. He displays an impressive feel for his changeup, but needs to develop it more to remain a starter. The Rays are working with Myers to find a consistent alignment in his stride with his landing foot. He also needs to control the running game more effectively, which should occur as he gets his mechanics in order. The Rays believe Myers has the ability to develop into a solid major league starter or a significant bullpen piece. He's expected to make the move to the full-season ranks at low Class A Bowling Green in 2018.

A sixth-round pick of the Orioles in 2016 out of Winter Haven (Fla.) High, Myers was the most intriguing of an impressive group of Aberdeen arms until the Orioles traded him in late July to the Rays in a one-for-one deal that sent Tim Beckham to Baltimore. If anything Myers was even more impressive after the trade. The 19-year-old showed advanced control and swing-and-miss stuff as he averaged 11.7 strikeouts per nine innings thanks to his 93-96 mph fastball and downer curveball. Myers also shows a promising changeup that he doesn't use all that much yet. He's a little undersized as a 6-foot righthander but with three pitches, athleticism and ability to throw strikes, he should be able to remain as a starter.

Myers' impeccable plus control is now combined with improved stuff. He's improved his body and regained the 93-95 mph fastball velocity he had early in his pro career. He recently earned a promotion to Triple-A Durham.
