View Draft Report
Benoit is a fourth-year junior who spent his freshman year at Tennessee, his sophomore season at Santa Fe (Fla.) JC and now two years with Tulane. Benoit has a big arm. He sat at 93-95 mph and touched 97-98 in 2021. The results did not match the stuff. He bounced between the rotation and the bullpen and posted a 5.67 ERA with a 4-4 record. Despite his solid velocity, Benoit’s fastball was quite hittable. He doesn’t get swings and misses when he elevates and hitters hit .356/.472/.514 against the pitch. His above-average 83-85 mph slider is a better pitch with some power.

Draft Prospects
-
Benoit is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound sophomore who transferred over from Tennessee after throwing 21 innings for them in 2018. This spring with Santa Fe, Benoit threw 63.2 innings in 14 starts and showed a solid fastball that sits in the low-90s, but has been up to 95. His most consistent secondary offering is a solid changeup, but scouts think Benoit has the frame, arm action and strikethrowing ability to have a chance as a starter at the next level despite a fringey slider.
