UC Riverside plucked Fagalde from Cuesta (Calif.) JC, and the 6-foot-3 righthander emerged as the Highlanders' top starter as a senior. He went 7-4, 3.39 and allowed only 70 hits in 79.2 innings. Fagalde's fastball ranges from 86-90 mph but hitters do not pick it up well and tend to swing through it. UCR does not have Trackman capabilities at its ballpark, but Fagalde's results lead many to believe his fastball has an exceptional spin rate that helps it play up. His primary secondary offering is a slider he locates well and he mixes in a splitter. He commands all three of his pitchers, with his fastball command excellent in particular. Fagalde fields his position well, holds runners and has a work ethic coaches love. He has garnered significant interest as a senior sign.
