Drafted in the 20th round (598th overall) by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017 (signed for $125,000).
View Draft Report
Reed attended Shepherd University (W.V.) prior to transferring to Harford. He's old for a junior college sophomore and scouts don't feel comfortable projecting him much going forward, but he already competes with two potentially average or better pitches. His fastball works at 91-94 mph and touched as high as 95 this spring and he spins a breaking ball well. Reed performed better and threw more strikes as the spring went on, finishing the season with a 8-1, 2.38 record and 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings. He is committed to West Virginia, but could be drafted in the top 10 rounds.
