Lizardo signed for $250,000 out of the Dominican Republic as part of the Jays' 2013 international signing class and has had to watch his conditioning since he signed, with a tendency to get too big. He was listed at 185 pounds when he signed and checked in at 218 at instructional league. A switch-hitter, Lizardo has to work to maintain both swings and has a bit more swing-and-miss from the left side, showing more power righthanded with some ability to put backspin on the ball. Lizardo has solid raw power and improved his plate discipline as the season went on, chasing fewer balls out of the strike zone. He showed more polish defensively than at the plate with an accurate, above-average arm, good hands and solid range at third base. Lizardo's main challenge now is being a third baseman in an organization behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. That could prompt Lizardo to return to Vancouver again for 2017.
