Draft Prospects
Amditis was the starting catcher and leading hitter for USA Baseball's 18U team last summer. He hit .385/.484/.423 for the national team and helped the Americans win the gold medal at the World Cup. But Amditis' high school career was cut short when he tore the labrum in his right shoulder, requiring season-ending surgery. Before his injury, Amditis was one of the best up-the-middle players in the high school class. He has a short, compact stroke that allows him to consistently put the barrel on the ball. He has the potential to hit for some power too, and hit a grand slam at the Under Armour All-America Game at Wrigley Field last August. Behind the plate, he is a good receiver with above-average arm strength. But shoulder surgery is a major injury, and has pushed him down draft boards. As a result, he is expected to fulfill his commitment to Miami, where he could immediately step in to replace Zack Collins as the Hurricanes' catcher.
