Track Record: A well-known amateur player in his native Dominican Republic, Amador competed for his nation’s U15 team before signing with the Rockies for $1.5 million in 2019. Amador debuted in the Arizona Complex League in 2021, hitting .299/.394/.445 while showing some of the most advanced skills in the league that season. He made his full-season debut the following spring with Low-A Fresno, playing in 115 games and hitting .292/.415/.445 with 15 home runs and 26 stolen bases. He was selected a California League all-star after leading the league in runs. He began his 2023 season with an undisclosed injury that delayed his debut with High-A Spokane until April 18. Upon his return, Amador hit .302/.391/.514 in 54 games and showed improved game power. In late June he injured his right hamate bone and required surgery, missing two months. He returned with Double-A Hartford on Aug. 26.
Scouting Report: One of the most advanced bat-to-ball hitters in the minor leagues, Amador shows uncanny barrel control and a discerning eye. The switch-hitter shows nearly equal skill from each side of the plate, with a slight bump in production as a lefthanded hitter. Amador is adept at staying short to the ball with an efficient swing that he can adjust based on pitch location. Unlike many advanced contact hitters, he is patient, showing the ability to work deep into counts as he waits for mistakes over the plate. While Amador is slight in build with limited projection, he’s shown improvements to his game power in each of the last two seasons. Amador added 3 mph onto his average exit velocity in 2023, and hit a ball 110.4 mph to establish a new best. Neither Amador’s righthanded or lefthanded swing are optimized for power, and a majority of his hardest-stuck drives are to center and the opposite field. Developing the ability to drive the ball consistently to his pull side is an area of potential development. Despite size and swing path concerns, Amador has produced fringe-average power output and projects to hit for average power numbers at peak. He’s an above-average straight-line runner with advanced baserunning instincts. Amador shows strong actions and footwork at shortstop but likely lacks the arm for the position. He began to see more time at second base in 2023, including nine of his 10 starts with Double-A. He projects as an above-average second baseman with the ability to fill in at shortstop. Amador’s profile is driven by his elite hit tool, but he possesses a variety of skills that make for a well-rounded player.
The Future: A potential elite leadoff hitter with the ability to play multiple positions in the middle infield, Amador has all-star upside with the ability to win multiple batting titles. He will return to Double-A Hartford to begin 2024. N

Track Record: Signed during the 2019 international period for $1.5 million, Amador was a well-known talent as amateur who starred for the Dominican Republic's U-15 team. He debuted in the Arizona Complex League in the summer of 2021, hitting .299/.394/.445 in 47 games. Assigned to Low-A Fresno out of camp in 2022, Amador spent the entire season with the Grizzlies and hit .292/.415/.455 in 115 games.
Scouting Report: Few hitters in the Rockies' system are as skilled and naturally gifted as Amador. A switch-hitter with a contact-oriented but patient approach, he employs two distinctly different swings. His righthanded swing is closed with few moving parts, while his lefthanded setup is open with a leg kick timing mechanism. He's a slightly better contact hitter from the right side but is an easy plus hitter with high walk rates from either side of the plate. Amador's power is below-average, and with a slight build and level bat path, he's unlikely to project for more than mid-teens power at peak--though some evaluators haven't ruled out average power. Despite high stolen base totals in Low-A, Amador is a fringe-average runner who will likely see his steals dwindle as he ages. Defensively, Amador's actions and hands are average for a shortstop. He shows good game awareness but lacks quickness in his first step or a truly average infield arm. Amador projects best at second base, with the ability to be an above-average defender. He is a skilled player who is potentially just scratching the surface of immense upside as a hitter.
The Future: Amador at present is a hit-over-power second baseman with elite bat-to-ball and on-base skills for a teenager. With added power and improvements to his first step and arm, he could develop into an above-average everyday infielder.

Track Record: Amador made his name on the Dominican Republic’s 15U national team and signed with the Rockies for $1.5 million as one of the top players in the 2019 international class. His pro debut was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, but he made up for lost time in 2021. He finished in the top 10 in the Arizona Complex League leaders in hits, runs, walks and stolen bases and led the ACL Rockies to the league’s best record.
Scouting Report: Amador is a polished hitter for his age and has a history of excelling against older competition. He has quick hands and a short swing with a solid bat path that results in hard drives from gap to gap. He will need to continue to add strength to his relatively small frame, although he already has a thicker lower half that is already helping him tap into growing power. He commands the strike zone and has a good approach at the plate for a player who has seen very little pro action, helping him project to be an above-average hitter who should reach double-digit home runs. Defensively, Amador has only an average arm and average speed at shortstop and too often relies on his natural ability rather than sound footwork and fundamentals. He projects better at second base long-term.
The Future: While Amador is advanced compared to other international signings of his age, he still has a long way to go. He’ll be tested at Low-A in 2022, and will need to prove that his small frame isn’t a negative on either side of the ball. -
TRACK RECORD: Amador signed with the Rockies for $1.5 million in 2019, but the club is still waiting for its first look at him. What would have been his debut season was scuttled by the coronavirus pandemic, and a broken hamate bone in October held him out of competition in instructional league.
SCOUTING REPORT: Amador is more advanced than many international signees at his age and experience level. The switch-hitter has a clean swing from both sides of the plate, good plate discipline and he has a unique ability for his age to manage a swing to do damage and another swing to fend off strikeouts. He's grown a couple of inches since signing and has added strength and power, though average power remains his likely ceiling. Defensively, Amador shows the kind of good footwork and plus arm strength that could help him stick at shortstop, but where he ends up remains to be seen depending on how his body develops.
THE FUTURE: The Rockies are eager to get Amador on the field. He has the makings of a potential everyday player but is a long ways away. -
TRACK RECORD: Amador represented the Dominican Republic at multiple international tournaments as an amateur, including the COPABE 15U Pan American Championship, where he made the alltournament team and won a gold medal. His combination of tools and ability to perform in games made him one of the best prospects in the 2019 international class when the Rockies signed him at 16 for $1.5 million.
SCOUTING REPORT: Amador is an advanced hitter for his age with a simple, compact swing from both sides of the plate. He stays balanced and recognizes pitches well, with the plate discipline and bat control to make frequent contact. Amador has a two-strike approach, but early in the count he looks to do damage, with his power ticking up to be able to drive the ball over the fence and the strength projection to get to at least average power. Amador has a chance to stay at shortstop, though some scouts think he might move off the position, and he's likely going to split time between shortstop and second base in 2020. An average runner, Amador has good defensive instincts, reading the ball off the bat well with a quick exchange to an average arm.
THE FUTURE: : While Amador is far away, he's one of the most exciting young players in the system. He will make his pro debut in 2020.
